HOW TO USE THIS APPLET
The graph area
- Drag an endpoint of the segment to move it to any location.
- Drag the midpoint of the segment to move it to any location. The SELECTED endpoint will remain fixed. The remaining endpoint will move to accommodate the changed location of the midpoint.
- Drag a point along the segment (other than an endpoint) to move the segment.
- Shift-drag an endpoint of the segment to move it to any other location equidistant from the other endpoint.
- Alt-drag an endpoint of the segment to move it to any other location along a line containing the segment.
- Shift-drag the midpoint of the segment to move it to any other location equidistant from the SELECTED endpoint. The remaining endpoint will move to accommodate the changed location of the midpoint.
- Alt-drag the midpoint of the segment to move it to any other location along a line containing the segment.
Other
- The arrow keys will move the "selected" endpoint.
- The "tab" key will change the selected endpoint.
- The version of the applet on this page does not support either the pasting of a picture or the pasting of data from the clipboard. This applet is written to run on older versions of Windows and on a Macintosh using operating systems previous to OS X.
Older versions of JAVA that run on these older systems do not support clipboard commands. To make the applet work on all systems, a single temporary picture stored as a file and one temporary set of data has been implemented.
- Once the temporary file picture has been pasted, selecting the "PICTURE/DATA" button again will result in three locations being plotted, as if they had been pasted in from a spreadsheet.
- In the final version, when the "PICTURE/DATA" button is selected, if there is spreadsheet data in the clipboard, it will be pasted in directly. No dialog box will appear.
- In the final version, when the "PICTURE/DATA" button is selected, if there is picture data in the clipboard, the dialog box currently appearing will continue to exist, with the functionality shown in this version with the file picture.
- In the final version, when the "PICTURE/DATA" button is selected, if there is neither spreadsheet data nor picture data in the clipboard, either nothing will happen, or a dialog box stating that "there is neither spreadsheet data nor picture data in the clipboard" will appear.
